Here’s a step-by-step tutorial based on the video for making print-then-cut stickers using a Cricut machine:
Step 1: Design Your Stickers
Create the Designs: Use a design tool like Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, or Canva to draw or compile your sticker images. Ensure each design has a transparent background and save them as PNG files. The transparent background is essential for accurate cutting.
Step 2: Upload to Cricut Design Space
Prepare for Cutting: Open Cricut Design Space, click on ‘Upload’ and select your PNG files. When prompted, choose the “Complex” image type to preserve all details. Make sure to select the “Print then Cut” option, which allows the machine to cut around the printed designs.
Step 3: Adjust Size and Layout
Organize Stickers: After uploading, adjust the size of each sticker as needed. You can duplicate or arrange them to make the most of your print area. Remember, Cricut’s print area is limited to 6.75" x 9.25", so ensure your designs fit within these dimensions.
Step 4: Print the Stickers
Print Setup: Click on the green “Make It” button, then “Send to Printer.” In the print setup, choose your printer and ensure the “Use System Dialog” option is selected for more print settings control. Use high-quality sticker paper and set your printer to “Best” quality for optimal results.
Step 5: Load and Cut
Cutting Process: Once printed, place the sticker paper onto a standard grip Cricut mat, aligning it as shown on the screen. Load the mat into the Cricut machine. Select the correct material type (e.g., “Sticker Paper” or “Printable Vinyl”), and press the flashing “C” button to start cutting. The machine will read the registration marks and cut around each sticker.
Step 6: Peel and Use
Finishing Up: After the cut is complete, carefully peel the stickers from the mat. If using a kiss-cut setting, the stickers will remain on the backing sheet, making them easy to peel off individually later.
